Paid and barter: how compensation works in the Club

Every NanoBuzz Club campaign states its compensation model before you accept, in plain words, in the invitation. This page explains what paid and barter actually mean in practice, where the mixed models fit and how to judge whether a specific offer is worth your work. What it does not do is promise you an income: nobody honest can.

Paid campaigns: a fee for defined work

In a paid campaign you receive a fee for delivering the content described in the brief: the formats, the number of publications, the deadline. The amount appears in the invitation and again in the e-contract you sign in the app, so there is no moment where you are filming on a promise.

Fees differ between campaigns because briefs differ: a single video for a local launch and a three-part series for an international brand are not the same job. The invitation is the source of truth for your specific case, and you are free to decline any fee you consider too low.

Barter: the product is the payment

In a barter campaign you keep the product in exchange for the content. Done right, barter is a legitimate deal, especially when the product is something you would buy anyway or its value clearly matches the effort. Done badly, it is unpaid work with a freebie attached, which is why our invitations always state the product and its value so you can do the maths before saying yes.

A simple test: estimate your hours for the brief, look at the product value, and ask whether you would accept that hourly rate in cash. If the answer is no and the product does not excite you, decline. That option always exists and costs you nothing in the Club.

Mixed models and loans

Two more labels complete the picture. Paid plus product means a fee and the product together, common when a brand wants authentic product-in-use content and for you to keep using it. Product loan means the item is shipped for the shoot and returned afterwards, typical for high value goods; any fee for the work itself is stated separately.

No income promises, on purpose

You may have seen platforms advertising specific monthly earnings for creators. We will not do that. How much you earn through the Club depends on your niche, your audience, which campaigns are open and how often your profile matches them. Those variables are real, so any concrete number would be marketing, not information.

What we do promise is process: terms stated before you accept, a signed e-contract for paid work, and payouts handled according to that contract. Transparency about the deal is our end; the decision to take it is always yours.

FAQ

Can I negotiate the fee in an invitation?

Sometimes. Some briefs have fixed budgets per creator tier, others have room. Ask the campaign team in the app before accepting: a clear question about scope versus fee is normal professional practice and nobody holds it against you.

Is barter taxed?

In many countries barter compensation has tax implications because you receive a product of measurable value for work. Rules differ by country and personal situation, so check locally. For Poland, our Academy guide on creator taxes is a practical starting point.

What if the product arrives damaged in a barter campaign?

Report it in the app with photos as soon as you unpack. Shipments go through our logistics centre with courier tracking, and a damaged product is our problem to fix, not a reason for you to film regardless.

Do barter campaigns count less than paid ones?

No. Delivering a great barter campaign builds exactly the same track record in the Club as a paid one: quality, timeliness and brief compliance are what campaign managers see when matching the next brief.

Why will you not say how much creators earn on average?

Because an average would mislead you. Earnings depend on niche, audience, market and open campaigns, and those differ wildly between members. We prefer stating each campaign's terms precisely and letting you judge each offer on its own.
